Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor of Education Studies

Date Posted: 02/12/26

The Wabash College Department of Education Studies invites applications for a one-year visiting teaching position beginning July 1, 2026. The successful applicant must be able to teach a foundations course in educational development in each semester, with the ability to teach two additional courses in areas including adolescent literacy (preferred), urban and/or rural education, pedagogy courses in secondary or K12 content, or topics in other areas relevant to the study of K12 public education. While Wabash College no longer offers a secondary teacher licensure program, our minor serves many graduates who enter alternative licensure programs and teach at the secondary level across Indiana and in other states as well. (Departmental web page: https://bulletin.wabash.edu/programsaz/education-studies/)

The successful candidate must have secondary and/or undergraduate teaching experience, and be dedicated to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting. The candidate should also be committed to ongoing professional development and scholarly research. PhD in hand at time of appointment is preferred and will be at Visiting Assistant Professor rank; ABD status will be considered for appointment at the rank of Visiting Instructor. This position carries a reduced teaching load (2 courses per semester) to allow the successful applicant to broaden their teaching experience while devoting time to scholarship within a supportive department. The position is for one year. Wabash College does not provide H-1B or other immigration case sponsorship for short-term visiting positions.

In the midst of a strategic transformation to advance the success of first-generation students, and students from low-income families, Wabash College is committed to attracting and effectively supporting faculty and staff with a demonstrated commitment to supporting student success. Applications, including cover letter, CV, unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts, email addresses for three individuals who will submit letters of recommendation online, and a teaching statement that addresses the candidate’s commitment to teaching in a liberal arts institution, should be submitted online at /employment/. Review of materials will begin March 10 and will continue until the position is filled.
