Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Wabash College, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), seeks a passionate and dedicated Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our athletic staff. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach supports the development and implementation of strength, conditioning, and performance programs for student-athletes across Wabash College athletic teams. This position assists with coaching sessions, weight room supervision, and performance tracking under the guidance of the Director of Strength & Conditioning.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, implementing, and supervising strength, conditioning, and speed/agility programs for assigned athletic teams.
  • Lead and/or support team training sessions in the weight room, practice field, or conditioning spaces.
  • Ensure safety and proper technique during all training activities; correct and coach athletes in real time.
  • Assist with scheduling team training times and coordinating facility usage.
  • Maintain the strength and conditioning facility: equipment cleaning, organizing weights, and ensuring a safe training environment.
  • Support performance testing, data collection, and athlete progress tracking as directed.
  • Communicate with coaches, athletic trainers, and athletes regarding workout plans, attendance, and physical readiness.
  • Uphold standards of professionalism, discipline, sportsmanship, and confidentiality with student-athletes.
  • Assist with education of student-athletes on recovery, nutrition basics, injury prevention, and performance habits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Strength & Conditioning or Athletic Director.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or a related field.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
  • Certification or working toward CSCS or SCCC certification.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques and strength training principles.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with an ability to motivate and work with college-aged athletes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and use of administrative systems required.
  • Ability to collaborate with the college community, including senior management, faculty and staff members, students, volunteers, and third-party business partners and vendors.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a student-athlete, strength & conditioning intern, or graduate assistant.
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Experience using performance tracking or strength program software.

The position is a part-time stipend appointment, and not eligible for benefits.
