Gross Indecency chronicles the arrest, judgment, and sentencing of Oscar Wilde, the most celebrated and notorious playwright and wit of Victorian England.  This provocative theatrical recreation of the trials that toppled Oscar Wilde from his seat at the apex of British art and society features a cast of characters ranging from Queen Victoria to George Bernard Shaw.  Modern historians and journalists travel back and forth in time to comment on Wilde and his contemporaries and raise the ever-burning issues of sexuality, censorship, and the role of the artist in society.  “A dazzling and thought-provoking piece, with a wit and ingenuity that are specifically of the theatre.” –Wall Street Journal

The classic American story of suspense and discovery.  Twelve men of an American jury wrestle with the fate of a young boy accused of killing his father.  The prosecution has presented a mass of circumstantial evidence that makes a guilty decision look certain.  But one man’s reasonable doubts about the way the case has been presented turns the jury room into a sweltering cauldron of self-righteousness, bigotry, and anger.  A meticulously designed jigsaw puzzle, written in 1945, Twelve Angry Men is even more appropriate in today’s climate of hyper-media scrutiny of our judicial system.

In Shakespeare’s poetic tragedy Othello, passionate desire unravels into all-consuming madness. The celebrated Moorish general Othello cherishes the high-born Venetian lady Desdemona with a love so great that it should transcend cultural and social differences, but instead it leaves them defenseless before the deadly intrigues of the vengeful Iago. Othello, a great success in Shakespeare’s time, was one of the first plays to be acted after the reopening of the theaters in 1660, and since that time has remained one of the most popular plays of the English stage.
